The La Galera Maduro, a full flavored, balanced, medium bodied smoke, is one you have to put on your list of cigars to smoke! Beginning with a V-cut, the cold draw hate notes of sweetness with a hint of pepper. After toasting and lighting the cigar the first puffs had a loose and open draw and the same notes of sweetness and pepper that were present in the cold draw. Midway through the flavors were consistent despite having to be relighted a couple of times because it had to be set down. Down the stretch the pepper and sweet notes remained consistent all the way to the end. Overall, the La Galera Maduro is an absolute most try!

Strength: Medium full

The Pepe Maduro from El Mago Cigars boasts a dark chocolate-colored wrapper in a box-pressed toro size. During the cold draw, you will notice tautness and detect notes of hay, earth, and a light sweetness. Upon lighting, the sweetness takes the forefront, accompanied by a building spice on the back of your palate. As you continue, a prominent earthiness emerges, evolving into leather, cocoa, and complex spices like cinnamon and baker’s spices.

In the second third of the cigar, the draw opens up, allowing more of the cocoa and spices to shine, with an undertone of espresso. As you approach the final third, the sweetness recedes, making way for a dominant black pepper note on the retrohale.

The Pepe finishes at a medium strength, leaving you with a blend of pepper, earth, and underlying sweetness in the last few puffs. Overall, it is a great smoke for Nicaraguan enthusiasts who appreciate flavor transitions without overpowering strength.

The Davidoff Nicaragua Diadema was awarded the number 3 cigar of the year by Cigar Aficionado, and it is not hard to see why. A flawless Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper covers a blend of filler tobaccos from Estelí, Ometepe, and Condega. The wrapper is firm but springy with a thin layer of oil that makes the cigar shimmer in the light. Once cut, the cold draw gives notes that are nutty, smokey and slightly sweet on the lips while the aroma is of dried fruit and toasted marshmallow. A slightly restricted draw, only requiring a couple of gentle puffs to get it going, gives rich notes of cream, dried fruit, and mild pepper. The second third is smokey and nutty while developing a delicious sweetness with a distinct citrus on the retrohale. All the notes present in the second third continue into the final third while the spice amplifies. Overall, the Davidoff Nicaragua is a smooth and balanced cigar that has a light and airy smoke that creates a medium-short finish.
