Arturo Fuente Anejo 888
The Arturo Fuente Añejo 888 is one of the most celebrated cigars in the legendary Añejo Series, a line born from adversity and transformed into one of the greatest success stories in premium cigar history. Following the devastation of Hurricane Georges in 1998, which destroyed much of the prized tobacco grown at Chateau de la Fuente, Carlos Fuente Jr. sought a way to continue producing exceptional cigars despite the loss of the coveted OpusX wrapper crop.
His solution became one of the most iconic innovations in the cigar world. Instead of using the unavailable OpusX wrapper, Fuente paired the renowned OpusX binder and filler tobaccos with specially selected Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrappers. In true Fuente fashion, these were no ordinary Maduro leaves. Each wrapper is aged for a full year inside Cognac barrels, allowing the tobacco to absorb subtle nuances while developing exceptional richness and complexity.
The result is the Añejo Series—an extraordinarily rare collection of cigars that delivers deep flavors of dark cocoa, cedar, espresso, leather, and sweet spice balanced by the distinctive character imparted through the Cognac barrel aging process. Rich, refined, and remarkably smooth for a full-bodied cigar, the Añejo has become one of the most sought-after limited releases in the world.
The Añejo 888 features a long and elegant 6 7/8" x 44 vitola that allows the blend's complexity to unfold gradually throughout the smoking experience. Released only a few times each year, every shipment of Añejo cigars is met with tremendous demand from collectors and aficionados alike.
More than two decades after its debut, the Añejo Series remains one of Arturo Fuente's most respected and difficult-to-find creations, representing the resilience, innovation, and craftsmanship that define the Fuente family legacy.
